Which Klimt tree print works best as a statement piece above a sofa?
For a living room with a standard sofa, we'd pick Klimt's Birch Forest (1903) in a 70x100cm framed print. The dense vertical trunks create a sense of calm depth that anchors a seating area beautifully, and the silvery greens and golds work with virtually any neutral scheme. Our solid wood frames arrive with the print already fitted and ready to hang, so you're not fiddling with separate parts or risking a wonky finish. It's one of our most popular Klimt tree prints for good reason.
Are Klimt's tree paintings just The Tree of Life, or are there others?
The Tree of Life gets all the attention, but Klimt actually painted trees obsessively across his landscapes. Birch Forest, Apple Tree I, Pear Tree, Farm Garden with Sunflowers, and several orchard scenes all feature trees as the central subject. If you want something less ubiquitous than the Tree of Life, a Klimt forest painting print like Birch Forest or Apple Tree I feels more personal and arguably more interesting on a wall. How do I choose between a framed Klimt print and a canvas for a bedroom?
For a bedroom, we'd lean towards a framed Klimt tree art print on our thick matte paper. There's zero glare from the UV-protective acrylic glaze, so it won't catch light from bedside lamps, and the matte finish feels quieter and more restful than a stretched canvas. A 50x70cm framed print of Klimt's Apple Tree in warm tones is perfect on the wall opposite your bed, giving you something genuinely lovely to look at without overpowering the room.
Will the gold tones in Klimt's tree paintings fade over time?
Not with ours. We use museum-grade giclée printing with inks rated to last hundreds of years, even in direct sunlight, and every framed print is fitted with UV-protective acrylic glazing. Those signature Klimt golds and warm ochres will look exactly as rich in ten years as the day you hang them. If you've been burned before by prints that washed out within a season, this is genuinely a different experience.
Why did Klimt paint so many trees and landscapes?
Klimt spent his summers around Lake Attersee in Austria, and the forests, orchards, and gardens there became a kind of creative reset from his more intense figurative work. His landscape paintings make up roughly a quarter of his total output, and they're fascinatingly different from The Kiss or his portraits. The pointillist texture and mosaic-like quality he brought to leaves and bark are what make Klimt nature prints so distinctive on a wall. They have all his decorative richness but feel calmer and more grounding in a home setting.
