Don't go small on a big wall thinking it'll be "subtle." It just looks like you forgot to finish decorating.

Think ochres, terracotta, soft greens, and cream tones rather than the stark black-and-white minimalism that dominated for years. Abstract expressionism remains strong, but the palette has softened considerably. Figurative line art is still popular but works best as part of a pair or trio rather than a solo statement.
