How big should modern art prints be above a bed?
Your art should sit at roughly two-thirds the width of your headboard. For a standard UK double (135cm wide), that means a single print around 70x100cm hits the sweet spot, or a set of two 40x50cm prints spaced about 5cm apart. Go too small and it'll look like an afterthought floating on the wall. Should I go with abstract art or something more figurative for a bedroom?
For bedrooms, we'd steer you towards abstract art prints every time. Abstract pieces create mood without demanding attention, which is exactly what you want in a room designed for rest. Bold figurative work or busy compositions can feel like someone's staring at you while you sleep. Look for soft tonal abstracts or loose, gestural pieces with muted palettes. They'll ground a modern bedroom without competing with your bed, which should always be the visual anchor of the room.
Where exactly should I place wall art in a bedroom?
Above the bed is the obvious choice, and honestly it's the right one for most bedrooms. Centre the piece (or set) on the wall behind the bed, not the bed itself, and hang the bottom edge about 15 to 20cm above your headboard. If you've got a blank wall opposite the bed, that's your second best spot since it's the first thing you see when you wake up. Avoid hanging large modern bedroom wall prints on the wall behind your door. Nobody sees them, and they deserve better.
Can I buy a matching set of modern bedroom prints, or should I mix styles?
A curated set of two or three prints from the same colour family looks more intentional and polished than a random mix. We think a modern bedroom prints set in tonal neutrals or a shared palette (say, dusty pinks and warm greys) gives you the cohesion a bedroom needs without feeling like a hotel. How can I make my bedroom look more modern with wall art?
