How do flat design art prints work in a room that already has a lot going on?

They're actually ideal for busy spaces. Flat design prints use bold, simplified shapes and limited colour palettes, which gives the eye somewhere to rest without competing with patterned sofas, textured rugs, or open shelving. If your living room already has a lot of visual texture, a single framed flat design print (we'd suggest 50x70cm or larger) acts as a clean anchor point. Think of it as the visual equivalent of turning the volume down on one instrument so the whole room sounds better.

Will flat design prints look too 'digital' or corporate on my walls at home?

This is the most common worry, and it's fair. The flat corporate art style you see in tech company lobbies is a specific (and slightly soulless) subset. The flat design wall art in our collection leans into richer colour work, more personal subjects, and compositions that feel intentional rather than clip-art-adjacent. Printed on our thick matte paper with giclée detail, the texture and depth you get in person is worlds apart from how flat illustration looks on a screen. Our shoppers regularly tell us the prints look even better once they're on the wall.

What frame colour works best with flat design prints?

For most flat design prints, we'd go with a natural oak frame. Flat illustration tends to use strong, deliberate colour blocks, and oak adds warmth without fighting those colours the way a high-contrast black frame can. If your print uses a cool palette (lots of blues, greys, or muted tones), a black frame sharpens everything nicely. White frames work in Scandi-style rooms but can wash out lighter prints. Our frames are solid FSC-certified wood with UV-protective glazing, so whatever you pick, the colours stay true for years.

Can I build a gallery wall with flat design prints, or do they look too similar together?

You absolutely can, and we'd argue flat design prints are one of the easiest styles to gallery-wall with. The shared visual language of clean shapes and bold colour means they naturally feel cohesive, even across different subjects. The trick is varying your sizes rather than lining up five identical frames. Try a 70x100cm centrepiece flanked by two or three smaller prints (30x40cm or 40x50cm), and mix in a couple of geometric flat art prints to break up any figurative pieces. Keep frames consistent and you'll have a wall that looks curated, not chaotic.

How is flat design different from minimalist art?

Minimalist art strips everything back to pure form and often works in monochrome or near-neutral palettes. Flat design keeps things simple in structure but embraces colour, pattern, and playfulness. A minimalist print might give you a single black circle on white. A flat design print gives you a full scene, bold hues, and clear subjects, just without shadows, gradients, or realistic rendering. If your room needs personality and warmth but you want clean lines, modern flat design prints are almost always the better pick over strict minimalism.
