What food and drink art prints work best in a kitchen?
For most kitchens, we'd steer you towards warm, richly toned prints: think citrus still lifes, coffee art prints, or close-up food photography with deep ochres and terracotta. A single framed 40x50cm print looks brilliant on the narrow wall between cabinets, while a larger 50x70cm piece works perfectly above a breakfast bar or on that awkward blank wall opposite the cooker. Will food art prints look good in a dining room, or are they too literal?
Not at all too literal. The trick is choosing food art with a painterly or artistic quality rather than a straight recipe-book illustration. A richly coloured wine wall art piece or a moody still life with fruit and cheese above a sideboard instantly sets the tone for dinner parties. We'd suggest going large here: a 60x80cm or 70x100cm framed print centred on the wall your guests face while seated. It gives the room a focal point and makes the whole space feel more considered.
How do I pick the right size food print for my kitchen wall?
Measure the empty wall space first, then aim for a print that fills roughly two-thirds of the width. For the strip of wall above a kitchen counter, a 30x40cm or 40x50cm print is ideal. For a larger blank wall or the end of a galley kitchen, go bigger with a 50x70cm or 70x100cm statement piece. Can I create a gallery wall with food and drink prints?
