Which seafood art prints work best in a kitchen?
Kitchens love seafood art that feels intentional rather than themed. A single framed lobster art print or a pair of oyster prints in a warm white frame above open shelving is our favourite move. Go for a 40x50cm or 50x70cm print so it holds its own against kitchen clutter without overwhelming the space. Our giclée prints are matte, so you won't get distracting glare from overhead or under-cabinet lighting, which is a real problem with glossy prints near worktops.
How should I hang seafood art to get the proportions right?
The 2/3 rule is your friend here: your art should be roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. So above a standard 150cm console table, a 100x70cm framed seafood print or a pair of smaller prints spaced about 5cm apart will look balanced. Hang the centre of the print at eye level, which for most people is about 150cm from the floor. Our framed prints arrive with fixtures already attached, so you're literally one nail away from done.
Can I use seafood prints in a restaurant or commercial space?
Absolutely, and they tend to look far better than the generic coastal photography you see in most seafood restaurants. We'd recommend vintage seafood prints or detailed shellfish illustrations in black or natural wood frames for a refined, bistro feel. A row of three matching crab, lobster, and prawn art prints at 50x70cm along a feature wall gives you instant character without screaming "theme restaurant." Our UV-protective acrylic glaze stops fading even in bright dining rooms, and you won't need to reframe anything since prints arrive fitted and ready to hang.
Do octopus and shellfish prints work outside of coastal-style rooms?
They genuinely do, and this is where people underestimate seafood art. An octopus wall art print in deep navy or black and white looks stunning in a modern living room or study with dark walls and brass accents. Shellfish art prints with a vintage botanical feel slot perfectly into Scandi or mid-century spaces. The trick is choosing tonal, illustrative styles rather than bright, cartoonish ones. Think natural history drawings rather than seaside postcards.
What kind of art are people actually putting on their kitchen walls right now?
The big shift we're seeing is away from generic prints and towards subject-led art that says something about how you live. Food and seafood illustration prints are hugely popular, especially vintage-style botanical studies of crabs, oysters, and fish. They bring warmth and personality without competing with the room's function. A single large framed seafood print (70x100cm in a natural oak frame) above a dining table or breakfast bar is one of the simplest upgrades you can make to a kitchen that feels a bit blank.
