Which water art prints work best in a bathroom?
Bathrooms love water art for obvious reasons, but the key is matching the mood to the space. For a small bathroom, a single 40x50cm close-up wave or ripple print in cool blues and whites keeps things fresh without overwhelming the room. For a larger bathroom, a pair of serene seascape art prints either side of a mirror creates a spa-like feel. Our giclée prints on thick matte paper won't glare under spotlights, and the UV-protective acrylic glaze on framed prints means steam and light won't fade your art over time.
What frame colour should I choose for ocean and sea prints?
For ocean wall art prints with deep blues and dramatic waves, we'd go with a black frame every time. It gives the image weight and lets the blues really sing against the contrast. For softer coastal scenes, sandy beach prints, or muted lake art, a natural oak frame feels more organic and relaxed. White frames work well for bright, airy seascapes but can wash out prints with lots of white sky, so be mindful of that. All our frames are solid FSC-certified wood, so they won't warp or cheapen the look the way MDF alternatives do.
How big should a water print be above my sofa?
For a standard three-seater sofa (roughly 200cm wide), you want your print to cover about two-thirds of the sofa's width. That means a single statement piece at 70x100cm is ideal, and it's the largest size we offer in framed art prints. Anything smaller than 50x70cm above a full sofa will look lost, like a postage stamp on the wall. If you want a gallery arrangement instead, try three 30x40cm coastal prints in a horizontal row with about 5cm between each frame.
Can I mix ocean, lake, and beach prints in the same room?
Absolutely, but keep one thread consistent. The easiest approach is to stick to a shared colour palette. Three prints that all sit in the blue-teal-white range will feel cohesive even if one is a moody seascape, another a calm lake reflection, and the third a bright shoreline. What doesn't work is mixing a warm golden-hour beach scene with a cold, stormy ocean print. The tonal clash makes the room feel confused rather than curated. We'd suggest choosing your anchor piece first (the largest or most dramatic water art print) and then picking companions that echo its palette.
What's the difference between coastal, beach, and ocean art styles?
They overlap, but the distinction matters when you're decorating. Coastal art prints tend to be softer and more muted, think weathered harbours, sandy dunes, and pale horizons. They suit neutral interiors and Scandi-style rooms. Beach art is warmer and more playful, with golden light, palm trees, or surfboards. Ocean and seascape art prints lean dramatic: crashing waves, deep blues, and moody skies that work brilliantly as statement pieces in living rooms or bedrooms. Knowing which mood you're after will save you from buying a print that fights your room's personality.
