About This Art

Yes, Saul Steinberg knew how to charm a room — and how to cut. This loose blue-ink study of bistro chairs brings cafe character into a kitchen or dining room without taking it over.

What changes when it goes up: a plain dining wall stops feeling like a corridor and starts feeling like somewhere you'd linger over a coffee. The blue is deep but the white space keeps everything light.

Hang it above a sideboard, between two kitchen windows, or in a breakfast nook where you actually sit. Eye-level works. Don't bury it behind a fruit bowl.

Pairs well with oak, rattan, white ceramics and a striped tea towel or two. Brass tap, linen runner, scrubbed pine table — all fine.

Don't crowd it with five other busy prints. One quieter companion is plenty.

Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

Made responsiblyFSC-certified wood and paper. Water-based, vegan inks. Crafted to order, so there's zero waste and zero guilt.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Is the blue closer to navy or a brighter cobalt?

It sits between the two — a deep cobalt rather than a dark navy. On a white wall it reads as a clear, slightly bright blue, not inky black-blue. It works alongside navy cabinets but won't disappear into them, and it stays lively next to softer pale blues.

Will this look too literal in a kitchen — like themed cafe decor?

No, because the drawing is loose and the chairs are sketched as objects rather than staged in a French cafe scene. There are no signs, no Eiffel Towers, no clichés. It reads as a chair study that happens to suit a kitchen, which is why it sits comfortably alongside modern, scandi or farmhouse rooms.

Is there much detail in the foreground or is the composition fairly even?

The chairs are spread fairly evenly across the print with a small table and espresso cup near the bottom. There's no single focal point pulling the eye one way, which makes it forgiving to hang — it works centred above a sideboard or off-centre between windows.
