About This Art

Somewhere between Henri Rousseau and naive folk portraiture, this black cat refuses to behave. He's wearing yellow round glasses and a scarf striped in rust, teal, cream and orange, painted with thick brushwork on a chalky off-white wall.

Hang it and the room loosens up. The orange in the scarf wakes up warm timbers and terracotta. The cool greys in the background calm everything else down. It's the kind of piece that makes guests smile before they sit down.

It suits a living room, a study, or a hallway you walk past every morning. Eye-level above a low console, or anchored above a small reading chair.

Pair with bouclé upholstery, oak or walnut, a woven rug with a little colour in it, and stoneware in earth tones.

Keep the wall around it quiet — this cat is the talker. Printed on premium fine-art paper with a soft matte finish.

Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will the bright orange in the scarf clash with a mostly neutral room?

It shouldn't. The orange is warm and slightly rusty rather than neon, and it's surrounded by softer cream, olive and teal in the scarf. Against a chalky off-white or pale stone wall it reads as a single warm accent — the kind of pop you'd add with a cushion or a ceramic vase.

Does this look like a proper painting or a cartoon illustration?

Closer to a painting. The brushwork is thick and visible, the background has real texture, and the cat's face is modelled with shadows rather than outlined. It has a sense of humour, but it's not a cartoon — it sits comfortably next to more serious art rather than looking out of place.

Is it better above a sofa or somewhere smaller like a desk or console?

It's a portrait, so a narrower spot suits it best — above a console, a writing desk, or a reading chair. Above a wide sofa it can look a bit lost on its own; if that's where you want it, go up a size or pair it with one or two quieter pieces alongside.
