About This Art

We like a bird study best when it comes with a little abrasion. The sky here is scrubbed and blotted rather than smooth, so the crane looks like it is moving through weather instead of posing in it. Put it up and a quiet room gets a sense of direction: the eye follows the wing, then the long neck, then out past the edge of the wall. It works above a bed, along a hallway, or over a low sideboard where the horizontal shape has room to breathe. Keep the company soft — linen, pale wood, stoneware, chalky grey or off-white walls. Don't crowd it with strong pattern or hot colour; that single red flash on the head is all the punch it needs. On premium fine-art paper the pale washes and dry-brush feather edges stay crisp.

Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will it look washed out on a white wall?

It won't disappear, but it will read very softly. The charcoal wing feathers and the red mark on the head give it enough definition against white. If your wall is bright white and you want more separation, a slim dark frame or a slightly warmer grey wall will make the pale sky feel deliberate rather than faded.

Is the sky plain or does it have texture?

It has plenty of texture. The background is built from blotted, overlapping watercolour washes with visible edges, cloud shapes and a few scattered speckles. That grain is what stops a pale piece from looking flat, and it is easiest to appreciate at larger sizes where the brushwork has room to show.

Does it need to be a big size to work?

It benefits from scale. The crane's wing stretches almost the full width, so at small sizes the long neck and legs get fiddly. Large is the sweet spot for above a bed or a sideboard. Medium suits a narrow hallway wall where you stand closer and take it in at shorter range.
