About This Art

Give the feature wall one hard decision, and let everything else relax. This vintage-style Kew Gardens exhibition poster does the heavy lifting — two big moths, coral and cream florals stitched into their wings, set against an almost-black ground.

Drop it onto a quiet wall and the room sharpens up. The dark background pulls the eye in, the coral and warm browns warm everything around it, and the typography gives it a grown-up, gallery-shop feel.

Hangs well in hallways, studies, dining rooms and bedrooms. Especially good on a chalky off-white wall or a deep painted one — dark green, inky blue, clay. Eye-level, solo, with space around it.

Pairs nicely with linen, aged leather, oak or walnut, brass fittings, and stoneware in cream and clay. A reading chair and a small lamp is all the company it needs.

What not to do: don't crowd it with other busy prints or competing dark posters. It wants room to breathe. Stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang straight from the box.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Is the background pure black or does it have some warmth?

It reads as near-black rather than flat black — there's a slight warm depth to it, which is why the coral and cream wings feel rich rather than harsh. On a chalky off-white or deep painted wall it sits comfortably without looking cut-out.

Will it feel too heavy in a small hallway?

Not usually — the dark ground actually helps a narrow hallway feel more intentional rather than cramped, as long as it's the only statement on that wall. Keep the surrounding wall colour quiet and leave clear space either side at eye-level.

Is the typography part of the artwork or can it be removed?

The 'Kew Gardens Exhibition' typography and the District Line strip are part of the design — that's what gives it the vintage Underground poster character. If you want a clean butterfly study without text, this isn't the right piece.
