About This Art

Not because it's off-white, but because it refuses to fade back. The bird is drawn with almost nothing — a few brown pencil strokes, a yellow eye, one dark beak — and that restraint is exactly what holds your attention across a room. Hung on a pale wall it adds age and quiet without adding colour, so a plain bedroom or study starts to feel considered rather than unfinished. Put it at eye level above a chest of drawers, a writing desk or along a hallway. It sits happily with linen, cane, pale wood and cream ceramics. Don't crowd it with loud colour or heavy pattern nearby; the empty paper around the bird is doing half the work. On fine-art paper the soft pencil texture and cream ground stay true.

Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will such a pale picture show up on a white wall?

Yes, though it depends on framing. The cream ground is warmer than most white paint, so the edge of the image reads clearly. On a very bright white wall, a darker wood frame gives it a definite boundary. On soft grey or greige walls it stands out on its own and needs less help.

What size works best in a hallway?

A medium portrait size is the sweet spot. The heron is lightly drawn, so going too small loses the pencil detail and the yellow eye. Aim for a wall stretch of at least around 55cm so there's clear space either side, and hang it at eye level as you walk past.

Can I pair it with a second bird print?

It works well as a pair or in a small group of three or four. Choose other natural history studies with similar cream or off-white backgrounds and plenty of space around the subject. Matching the frames keeps the set calm; mixing bold graphic posters in will overpower this one.

Does the grass at the bottom make it feel unfinished?

No — the loose grass is part of the original plate style, where the bird is finished and the setting only sketched. It reads as an old field study rather than an incomplete drawing, and it's one reason the piece feels relaxed instead of formal.
