About This Art

Against plaster, the black reads less sweet, more deliberate. The dog is there in full — ears, ruff, one lifted paw — but it is built from fast loops of pen, so it stays graphic rather than sentimental. Put it up and a plain wall gets a focal point without gaining any colour, which is why it suits rooms you have already worked hard on. Hang it at eye level in a hallway, on a study wall behind a desk, or slightly high above a low sideboard where the white space can breathe. Keep the company simple: painted or pale wood, black metal, a bit of worn leather, plain ceramics. Avoid crowding it with patterned wallpaper or other busy black-and-white art, and skip a mount so heavy it competes with the linework. As a canvas the white ground reads softer and matt, with no reflections.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Does the dog still read clearly from across a room?

Yes. The scribbles are dense where the coat and head sit, so from two or three metres away you read the full standing dog, ears up and one paw lifted. Up close it breaks back into loops of pen. If your wall is only viewed from very near, go a size up so the shape holds together.

Will it look right if my walls are not white?

It works best on light painted walls — off-white, soft grey, pale greige — where the white background blends and the black lines stand out. On deep navy or forest walls the pale background reads as a bright block, so choose a wider mount or a framed option to make that edge look intentional.

Is this specifically an Australian Shepherd or could it pass for another breed?

The drawing follows Aussie cues: the thick ruff, feathered chest and rear, upright ears and the heavy coat over the shoulders. It reads clearly as an Australian Shepherd to owners of the breed, though it also sits happily among border collie and other herding-dog prints in a small group.
