About This Art

We like portraits best when they come with a little abrasion. The brushwork is loose, the eyes are swept over with paint, and the room behind it has to do less work because of it.

Put this on a wall and the room slows down a touch. The dusty teal background carries the corner without going dark. The red mouth and hair flowers pick up warm timber and terracotta without shouting.

It hangs best above a sideboard, a desk, or a sofa where you can stand back a metre or two. Eye-level or a little higher. It can also hold a quieter hallway on its own.

Pair it with linen, aged leather, brass fittings and warm oak or walnut. Stoneware and plaster walls bring out the painterly edges.

Don't crowd it with other portraits or anything heavily patterned. It wants room to breathe. Printed on premium fine-art paper, with framed options in real wood.

Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

Made responsiblyFSC-certified wood and paper. Water-based, vegan inks. Crafted to order, so there's zero waste and zero guilt.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

How dark is the background — will it read as moody or as a softer mid-tone?

It sits in the middle. The backdrop is a dusty teal-grey with brown scuffs running through it, not a deep saturated colour. In a bright room it reads softer and more atmospheric. In a dim room it pulls more moody. Either way it has enough warmth in the skin tones to stop the wall feeling cold.

The eyes are obscured by a brushstroke — is that intentional?

Yes. The blindfold of paint across the eyes is the whole point of the piece. It keeps the focus on the mouth and the texture rather than a direct gaze, which is why it works in a living room without feeling like someone is watching you across the sofa.

Will the red lips and hair flowers clash with a warm-toned room?

Not usually. The reds are dusty rather than bright pillar-box red, and they sit against muted teal and warm brown. They pick up terracotta, rust, oxblood and warm timber rather than fighting them. Avoid only if your room already runs on cool blue-pink coral.
