About This Art

For anyone who lives with a German Wirehaired Pointer, this engraving catches the breed at its most off-duty: flat on the floor in a full sploot, back legs stretched out behind, beard bristling, a tennis ball held under one paw. Fine ink hatching picks out the wiry, ticked coat and the dark liver patch across the back, all on a warm cream ground inside a double ruled border. The cream and dark brown sit easily with oak floorboards, a tan leather armchair, tweed or waxed cotton, and it suits a boot room, hallway or study where the dog actually spends its time. A medium size works best above a console or desk; go larger above a sofa so the line work still reads from across the room. On premium fine-art paper, the cream tone and fine lines stay crisp.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

What size works best for this German Wirehaired Pointer engraving?

A medium size suits most spots, such as above a console, desk or hall bench. The fine hatching on the coat rewards a closer look, so it does well where people pass near it. Go large above a sofa or sideboard so the line work and the dog's beard still read from a few metres away.

Is the dog clearly a German Wirehaired Pointer?

Yes. The drawing shows the breed's harsh, wiry coat, bushy brows and beard, liver ticking with a solid liver patch across the back, and drop ears. The pose is the sploot, flat on the floor with the hind legs stretched straight out behind, and a tennis ball tucked under a front paw.

Will the colours suit a modern room?

The palette is cream with tan and very dark brown ink, so it reads warm and quiet rather than fussy. It sits well with off-white walls, oak and walnut, and leather. In a very cool scheme of grey and chrome the cream can look yellow, so it is happiest where there is some wood or warm textiles.
