About This Art

Yes, Ernst Haeckel knew how to charm a room — and how to cut. This is Plate 65 from his Kunstformen der Natur, eleven careful studies of red algae arranged like a museum cabinet in coral pink, deep red and warm cream.

It brings quiet detail and warmth to a wall. The pinks are soft enough to sit in a calm room, the deeper reds give it just enough weight to hold a space on its own.

Works well in a study, a bathroom, a hallway or a guest bedroom. Sits happily above a small console, a desk or a basin shelf at near eye-level.

Pair with pale oak or walnut, cream linen, brass or aged-bronze fittings, and soft plaster walls. Other quiet botanicals nearby work, as do small framed maps or vintage natural-history plates.

Don't put it next to bold modern graphics — the fine line work needs room to breathe. Framed in oak or black wood lifts the pinks beautifully on paper.

Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will the pink read too sweet on the wall?

The pinks here are dusty and warm rather than bubblegum, and they're balanced by deeper red specimens and a cream ground. In rooms with pale wood, plaster walls or brass it reads more like a warm coral than a sugary pink, which is why it suits older houses and English country interiors.

Is the detail still legible at a smaller size?

There are eleven small studies on the plate, so the medium size is the safest pick — it gives each specimen room to read. At the small size you'll see the overall composition and the strongest reds, but the finer line work and the tiny cross-section diagrams at the bottom start to soften.

Does it work in a bathroom?

Yes. The subject is marine, the palette is warm and calm, and the print holds up well opposite a basin or beside a bath. Use a framed art print with premium acrylic glazing rather than glass, and keep it away from direct splash. It suits cream-tiled or plaster-walled bathrooms especially well.
