About This Art

Somewhere between Picasso's one-line drawings and modern line art, this scribble dog refuses to behave. Put it up and a flat wall suddenly has movement in it — all that black pen against white pulls the eye across the wall and gives a quiet room a bit of humour. It earns its place in a hallway, a study above a desk, or on the wall beside a reading chair. Keep the things around it simple: pale wood, painted furniture, black metal legs, linen, plain ceramics. Don't crowd it with busy pattern or heavy colour — the lines need white space to read as a dog rather than a mess. As a canvas the edges sit flush to the wall, so the white reads as part of the room.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Can you tell it's an Irish setter, or does it just look like scribbles?

From a step or two back the breed reads clearly — the long feathered ears, the deep chest, the upright sitting pose and that low sweeping tail all come through. Up close it dissolves into loose pen loops, which is the fun of it. Give it a metre or two of viewing distance and it settles into a dog.

Will it look busy on a wall that's already got a lot going on?

It can. The lines carry a lot of movement, so they need white space around them to breathe. On a plain painted wall with a clear gap either side it looks graphic and calm. Next to patterned wallpaper or a crowded shelf, the scribbles start to compete rather than stand out.

Does it work in a room with warm wood and cream tones, or does black look too harsh?

Black works hard in a warm room — it sharpens pale wood, cream walls and linen rather than fighting them. The white background does most of the work, so only the lines register as dark. If you want it softer still, hang it a little higher and keep nearby accessories plain.
