About This Art

Even the linen in here starts looking expensive next to soft grey. Bernard's seated cat brings a quiet, observed calm into the room — the kind of piece you stop noticing as 'art' and start treating as part of the furniture, in the best way.

What changes: the room reads more considered. Pencil drawings on cream paper soften hard edges and warm up cool light. Walls feel less blank without shouting for attention.

Where to hang: above a writing desk, in a hallway at eye level, beside a reading chair, or in a bedroom where you want something gentle to wake up to. North-facing rooms suit it especially well — the warm paper tone lifts cool daylight.

What to pair: linen, oak, aged leather, cream ceramics, antique brass. Other vintage studies — a botanical, a small landscape — sit happily alongside.

What not to do: don't drown it in bright colour or hang it next to a glossy modern abstract. It needs a little quiet around it. Printed on heavyweight fine-art paper that holds the soft pencil tones beautifully.

Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

Made responsiblyFSC-certified wood and paper. Water-based, vegan inks. Crafted to order, so there's zero waste and zero guilt.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will the soft pencil greys read clearly on the wall, or look washed out?

From a normal viewing distance the cat reads clearly against the warm cream paper — the contrast is gentle but consistent. It rewards being seen close up. If your wall colour is very dark, the print will look smaller and softer than expected; a wide mount and a defined frame help it hold its space.

Is the cat looking left or right — and does it matter for hanging?

The cat faces left in profile, eyes nearly closed, tail curled to the right around the front paws. That gentle leftward gaze means it sits well at the right-hand end of a console or shelf, looking back into the room rather than off the wall.

Does this work in a child's room or nursery, or is it more grown-up?

It works in both. The drawing is calm and unfussy rather than cutesy, so it suits a child's room without feeling babyish, and grows up well — many buyers keep these pieces long after the nursery years. Pair with simple wooden furniture and warm linens.
