About This Art

Kitchens get their best light in the morning. By ten the sun comes in low over the worktop and the cream ground of this one goes almost the same shade as the wall, so the sundae sits there like a drawing done straight onto the plaster. The charcoal lines hold their edge in that light where a photograph would bleach out. Hang it on the wall between the window and the fridge, at eye level for someone standing with a coffee. White metro tile below it, nothing glossy beside it. Come evening, under a pendant, the smoky shading around the glass deepens and the whole thing turns quieter, more like a page from a sketchbook than a picture of pudding. It suits a small kitchen. One drawing, one wall, no other pictures. On fine-art paper the scratched line stays as sharp as the plate that made it.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will the cream background look dirty next to a bright white wall?

It reads as warm rather than grubby, but the gap is visible. On brilliant white the cream shows as a soft tint, which most people like because it stops the drawing looking like a photocopy. On an off-white or pale grey wall the ground almost disappears and the ink sits straight on the paint. Avoid cool blue-whites, which make the cream look yellow.

What size works in a narrow galley kitchen?

Medium is the sweet spot. You tend to see a galley wall from close range, often while standing at the worktop, so the fine scratched line gets read properly. Go below 40cm wide and the glass loses its detail from across the room. Go large and the cream ground becomes a big pale rectangle that fights the tile. Around 50 to 60cm tall is right for most.

Does it suit a dining room or is it strictly a kitchen piece?

It moves to a dining room easily, especially a small one with a marble or pale wood table. Hang it lower than usual, at the eye level of someone sitting down, and it works like a picture in a cafe. In a formal dining room with dark wood and heavy curtains it feels too light. Keep the setting plain and the joke lands.
