About This Art

'Too safe,' said nobody standing in front of soft black watercolour washes. A loose, painterly terrier portrait that brings warmth and a bit of personality to a calm room. Hang it in a hallway, above a desk, or in a quiet reading corner and the whole wall softens. The soft black and grey washes sit easily next to oak, linen, dove grey walls and woven rugs, so it slides into Scandinavian, japandi and organic-modern rooms without fuss. Pair it with simple botanical studies or a small framed sketch for a gentle pet-themed wall. Skip it if you want bold colour or a hyper-realistic dog portrait — this one is loose, quiet and a little wistful. Printed as a canvas wall art piece, stretched over a wooden frame and ready to hang.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Is this a specific dog breed?

It reads as a Parson Russell or Jack Russell type terrier — the rough coat, sitting posture and black-and-white markings are characteristic. It isn't a portrait of a named dog, so it works as a gentle nod to the breed rather than a likeness of any one pet.

Will it look too small on a large wall?

It can. The composition has lots of white space, so on a big empty wall a medium size may feel lost. Either go up a size to a large print, hang it as part of a small cluster with two or three quieter pieces, or pick a narrower wall like a hallway or above a bedside table.

Does it work in a colourful room?

It can sit in a colourful room, but it works best as a calming counterweight rather than competing for attention. If your walls and furniture are already busy and bright, this soft black-and-white piece may read as understated rather than as a focal point — which is sometimes exactly what a loud room needs.
