Une carpe presque noire, haute comme une porte, qui capte le regard et structure l’espace. Accrochez cette affiche au tournant de l’escalier, sur un mur étroit et haut souvent laissé vide : le palier prend soudain tout son sens. Le gris bleuté de l’eau s’accorde à merveille avec un enduit à la chaux, donnant l’impression que la carpe sort du mur. Laissez le reste épuré : rampe foncée, couloir sobre, une lampe sur le demi-palier. Kuniyoshi a dessiné des écailles qu’on compte depuis la première marche ; offrez-lui la chute d’une cage d’escalier pour que l’on lève les yeux vers elle. Un cadre noir souligne élégamment le bord du papier et complète l’ensemble.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Le fond sombre va-t-il donner l’impression que mon couloir est plus petit ?

En général, c’est l’inverse. Un couloir clair sans élément sombre paraît plat, et le regard y glisse sans s’arrêter. Une grande pièce sombre apporte de la profondeur au mur, comme une fenêtre au bout d’un passage. Gardez les murs autour clairs, blanc cassé ou bleu-gris doux, et le poisson semble se poser dans le mur plutôt que dessus.

Quelle hauteur dois-je viser sur un mur d’escalier ?

Plus grand qu’on ne l’imagine depuis le bas de l’escalier. Les murs d’escalier se regardent d’en dessous et à plusieurs mètres, donc une pièce qui paraît grande sur le palier semble juste depuis la marche du bas. Visez une position où l’œil de la carpe se situe légèrement au-dessus de votre propre niveau des yeux quand vous êtes sur le palier, et laissez au moins une largeur de main de mur dégagée de chaque côté.

Le bleu-gris jure-t-il avec un mur crème chaud ?

Pas en pratique. L’eau est d’un bleu grisé très doux, loin d’un bleu ciel net, et le poisson lui-même est d’un noir chaud tirant vers le brun dans les écailles, donc il fait le lien entre murs froids et chauds. Sur crème, il paraît un peu plus feutré. Sur bleu-gris, il se fond presque dans le mur et seul le poisson ressort, ce que certaines personnes préfèrent.
