Over dit kunstwerk
Vanaf de deuropening oogt de verticale compositie puur; van dichtbij is hij allesbehalve braaf. De wilg druipt, de lantaarn staat laag en compact, en het roomwit snijdt scherp door een gekneusde auberginekleurige ondergrond — zelfverzekerd penseelwerk dat doet alsof het stil is.
Aan de muur vertraagt het de ruimte. Het diepe paarsbruin aardt alles eromheen, en het roomwitte onderwerp trekt de blik zonder zijn stem te verheffen.
Het vraagt om een rustige plek: een slaapkamerwand, in de werkkamer boven het bureau, of een smalle gang tussen deuren. Op ooghoogte, solo, met wat ademruimte eromheen.
Combineer met licht eiken, linnen, papieren lampenkappen en één stuk steengoed. Zwart of eiken inlijsten kan allebei — zwart scherpt, eiken verzacht.
Zet het niet tussen andere donkere bloemprints en laat het niet concurreren met een tweede statement. Dit werk staat het liefst als enige luide noot in de ruimte.

How do I frame an art print?
Good news—you don’t have to!
All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:
- Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
- We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
- Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
- Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.
Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

How do I hang art prints?
It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.
Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:
- Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.
- Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.
- For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.
Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.
Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall
How dark does this read on the wall?
The ground is a deep purple-brown rather than black, so it reads as warm depth rather than a hard rectangle. On a pale plaster or off-white wall it sits comfortably; on a dark wall the contrast drops and the cream subject does the lifting.
Is the calligraphy in the top right actually readable Japanese?
It is hand-brushed Japanese script, kept as part of the original composition rather than a modern caption. It reads as part of the artwork's balance — a counterweight to the willow — rather than a translated title, and most viewers treat it as a design element.
Will it work above a bed or only on a feature wall?
Above a bed is one of its best spots. Hang it at eye level when seated, centred or slightly off-centre, and leave clear wall around it. Skip a second artwork on the same wall — it carries the space on its own.
