    Deze poster van Ohara Koson komt het mooist tot zijn recht in het ochtendlicht. Plaats hem bij een overloop of raam op de trap: het eerste grijze licht verdiept het blauwgrijze water, terwijl de gebroken witte achtergrond licht blijft. Zo lijkt de karper omhoog te springen. Rond het middaguur wordt het beeld rustiger – precies de bedoeling. Hang op ooghoogte op een kalkwitte, matte muur. Pleister met een matte afwerking pakt hetzelfde koele licht als het water; samen vormen ze een rustige combinatie zonder poespas. Laat het houtskoolzwart van de vis één donkere tegenhanger in de ruimte krijgen – een zwarte deurklink of een leistenen trede – en niet meer. Bij schemer geeft lamplicht warmte aan het zandkleurige vinnenwerk en verandert het beeld voor de derde keer. Gedrukt op fine-art papier blijven de schub- en lijndetails haarscherp achter het glas.

    All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

    • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
    • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
    • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
    • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

    Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

    How do I hang art prints?

    It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

    Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

    1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

    2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

    3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

    Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

    Wordt het blauwgrijs koud in mijn kamer?
    Dat hangt af van het licht. In een kamer op het noorden oogt het water koel en wordt de gebroken witte basis iets grijzer, wat goed past bij leisteen, wit en licht essen maar botst met warme crèmewanden. In een kamer met ochtend- of avondzon warmt het zand in de vinnen op en wordt het geheel zachter. Combineer het met linnen en licht hout in plaats van crème verf, dan staat het stevig.

    Hoe groot moet ik gaan op een trapbordes?
    Ga groter dan je instinct zegt. Een wand op een bordes zie je van beneden en van een afstand, dus alles onder 80 cm hoog valt weg tot een strook. Bij 100 cm of meer staan de karper en de splash los van elkaar en lees je de beweging vanaf de onderste trede. Houd de onderrand ongeveer op heuphoogte, zodat de splash je tegemoetkomt als je omhoog gaat.

    Betekent de karper iets, of is het gewoon een vis?
    In de Japanse en Chinese traditie zwemt de karper stroomopwaarts en springt hij over watervallen, en wie dat haalt wordt een draak. Hij staat voor doorzettingsvermogen en voor iets moeilijks doorkomen, daarom wapperen er in Japan op Kinderdag karpervlaggen. Dat maakt dit een goed beeld voor een studeerkamer, een bordes waar je elke dag overheen loopt, of een cadeau na examens of een nieuwe baan.
