    Haal eerst het plankje met schelpen weg. In een toiletruimte waar al drijfhout, een touwspiegel en drie zeesterren hangen, heeft één koraalrode sint-jakobsschelp niets meer toe te voegen. Geef hem liever een kale, wit betegelde wand boven de wastafel, met daaronder chroomkleurige kranen en één gestreepte handdoek. Dat is het hele plan. Het koraal brengt warmte, het crème zorgt voor rust, en de ruimte voelt strandachtig zonder ook maar één anker als motief. Houd de muren offwhite of heel lichtgrijs. Verf je ze marineblauw, dan botst het rood; perzikkleur laat het verdwijnen. Handdoeken in effen wit. Eén zeepbakje, van steen, niet van schelp. Op ooghoogte boven de wastafel opgehangen houdt dit werk een kleine ruimte in zijn eentje en heeft het geen gezelschap nodig. In een bruine houten lijst oogt het papier als een pagina uit een oud conchologieboek.

    How do I frame an art print?

    Good news—you don’t have to!

    All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

    • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
    • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
    • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
    • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

    Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

    How do I hang art prints?

    It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

    Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

    1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

    2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

    3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

    Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

    Botst het koraalrood met een roze of perzikkleurige badkamer?
    Het vervaagt eerder dan dat het botst. De rode banden zitten dicht bij perzik op de kleurencirkel, dus tegen perzik- of terracottategels verliest de schelp zijn scherpte en leest de wand als één warme waas. Hij wil juist een koele of neutrale achtergrond, witte tegels, lichtgrijze verf of gebroken witte panelen, waar het rood de enige warme noot is en al het werk doet.

    Welke maat werkt boven een wastafel?
    Ongeveer 40 cm vierkant is de sweet spot voor een standaard wastafel- of toiletruimtemuur. Op dat formaat is het ribdetail vanaf de deuropening duidelijk en blijft er nog ademruimte aan beide kanten. Ga naar 50 of 60 cm boven een dubbele wastafel of een console. Onder 30 cm wordt de schelp een klein vlekje op de muur en valt hij in de ruimte minder op.

    Ziet het er niet te zeewaards uit voor een keuken?
    Niet als hij alleen hangt. De stijl van de oude plaquette leest eerst als natural history-studie en pas daarna als strandmotief, dus in een lichtgrijze of witte keuken oogt hij verzameld in plaats van thematisch. Houd rode keukenspullen en oranje accenten van het werkblad eronder weg en laat witte keramiek en eiken planken in de buurt staan. Eén schelp, geen andere zeeverwijzingen, en de keuken blijft volwassen.
