Which frame colour should I choose for my art print?

For most rooms and most art, a black picture frame is the safest and strongest choice. It adds definition without competing with the artwork, and it works across every interior style from Scandi minimal to mid-century. White picture frames are brilliant if your walls are dark or if you want the piece to feel lighter and more airy, while natural oak suits warm, earthy palettes. Gold picture frames can look incredible as a statement, but we'd keep them to one per wall unless you're going full maximalist. All our frames are solid FSC-certified wood with a UV-protective glaze, so whichever you pick, the print inside is protected from fading.

Do your framed prints arrive ready to hang?

Yes, and this matters more than people realise. Every framed art print ships as one unit: the print is professionally fitted into the frame with fixtures already attached, so you literally take it out of the box and put it on the wall. A huge issue with buying picture frames online is that the frame and print arrive separately, leading to warping, bubbling, or a poor fit. We skip all of that. Our frames are solid wood (no MDF or veneers), the acrylic glaze is already in place, and thousands of shoppers tell us the quality looks even better in person than on screen.

Do pictures look better with a mount in the frame?

Almost always, yes. A mount (or mat, if you're in the US) creates breathing room between the artwork and the frame, which gives the print a more polished, gallery-quality feel. It also draws your eye into the image rather than straight to the frame edge. We'd especially recommend a mount if you're hanging a single piece above a sofa or bed where you want the art to feel considered and intentional. Our framed prints come with a mount as standard, because frankly, prints without one tend to look like they belong in an office corridor.

How do I know what size picture frame I need for my wall?

Start with the furniture below it, not the wall itself. If you're hanging above a sofa, your frame should be roughly two-thirds the width of the sofa. For a standard three-seater (around 200cm wide), a large picture frame at 70x100cm hits that sweet spot beautifully. Above a bedside table or in a narrow hallway, 30x40cm or 40x50cm works well without overwhelming the space. Our framed prints go up to 70x100cm, which is big enough to be a genuine focal point without needing professional installation.

Are black picture frames still in style?

Black frames have never really gone out of style, and we don't think they will. They're the little black dress of the art world: clean, versatile, and they let the artwork do the talking. Current trends lean towards warm tones and natural textures, which has pushed oak and walnut frames into the spotlight, but black remains the top seller across our entire range for good reason. If you're building a gallery wall with a set of 3 or more frames, sticking to all black gives you a cohesive, intentional look that doesn't require a design degree to pull off.
