How big should a statement art print be for my living room wall?
For a true statement piece, your art should fill roughly two-thirds the width of whatever it sits above. So above a standard three-seater sofa (around 200cm wide), you want a print at least 100cm across. Our largest framed art prints go up to 100x70cm, which works brilliantly as a bold focal point in most living rooms. If you've got a bigger wall to fill, go for a pair hung side by side with a 5cm gap. Don't be timid here: undersized art on a large wall is one of the most common decorating mistakes, and it makes the whole room feel unresolved.
Will a large framed statement print arrive ready to hang?
Yes, and honestly this is the thing we're most particular about. Every framed statement art print ships as one piece: the print is already properly fitted inside a solid wood frame with UV-protective acrylic glazing and hanging fixtures attached. You open the box, put a nail in the wall, and you're done. We've seen too many large prints from other sources arrive with the frame shipped separately, or worse, with cheap MDF frames that warp within weeks. That's not something you'll deal with here.
What kind of artwork makes the best statement piece?
A statement piece is any artwork bold enough to anchor an entire room, so it needs to earn that attention through either scale, colour, or subject matter (ideally two of the three). We think dramatic art prints with high contrast or saturated colour work best because they hold their visual weight even in a room full of furniture and soft furnishings. Abstract compositions, striking portraits, and bold modern art prints all qualify. The key test: if you walk into the room and your eye goes to the art first, it's doing its job.
Can I use a statement art print in a bedroom, or is it too much?
Bedrooms are actually one of the best places for statement artwork because the rest of the room is usually quite simple: a bed, side tables, maybe a chair. That simplicity gives a large bold print the breathing room it needs. We'd recommend placing a single eye-catching print centred above the headboard, ideally at least 60x80cm or larger. Pick something with a slightly muted or warm palette if you want drama without keeping yourself awake. A deep-toned landscape or abstract with rich ochres and navy is a great starting point.
What are examples of statement pieces for a feature wall?
The classic approach is a single oversized art print on an otherwise empty wall, letting scale do the heavy lifting. But a curated set of two or three bold prints hung in a tight vertical or horizontal line can be equally striking, especially in hallways or above sideboards. Think a pair of dramatic art prints in matching frames stacked vertically on a narrow wall, or a triptych of abstract prints spanning a wide dining room feature wall. The trick is committing to the arrangement and not cluttering the surrounding wall with smaller pieces that dilute the impact.
