About This Art

Seen beside warm oak, the portrait loses nostalgia and gains grit. The brushwork is loose, the colour confident, the cat unbothered. Put it up and a quiet room gains a personality — warm orange, deep green, and inky black doing the heavy lifting. Hang it at eye level above a sideboard or reading chair, somewhere a lamp can hit it in the evening. Pair with linen, oak, aged leather, and stoneware in warm earth tones. Don't crowd it with other strong portraits or busy florals — this one wants room to breathe, and a calm wall behind it. On premium fine-art paper the brushwork stays crisp, with the warm cream of the robe holding its own.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will the orange and green feel too loud in a small room?

Not usually. The cream of the robe takes up a lot of the surface, which softens the orange and green considerably. In a small room, hang it where a lamp can catch it rather than under bright overhead light, and keep the surrounding wall calm. It will warm the room rather than overwhelm it.

Does the black cat dominate the composition or is it balanced with the figure?

The cat sits low and to the right and reads as a strong dark anchor, but the figure clearly leads — her face, the bun, and the long stripes of the robe pull the eye first. The cat is a strong supporting note rather than the main event, which is part of the charm.

Is this better above a sofa or a sideboard?

It's a portrait orientation, so a sideboard, console or reading chair tends to suit it better than a wide sofa. Above a sofa it can look a bit lost unless you flank it with something quieter, and this piece really doesn't want a neighbour. Solo above a sideboard is the sweet spot.
