Over dit kunstwerk
Naast licht eiken verliest de drijvende boot zijn nostalgie en krijgt meer karakter. Het diepe blauwe water leest als één zelfverzekerde vorm, en het kleine bootje zit erin als een gedachte waar je steeds naar terugkeert.
Een rustige kamer krijgt een focuspunt zonder te schreeuwen. Het vlakke blauw kalmeert de muur eromheen, en de warme zandkleurige rand verzacht de randen, waardoor het geheel zich voegt in plaats van te schreeuwen.
Hang hem op ooghoogte op een rustige, lege muur — boven een console in de gang, naast het bed of in een leeshoek. Het werk komt het best tot zijn recht met wat ademruimte, dus zet er niet te veel omheen.
Combineer met licht eiken of essenhout, linnen, biezenmatten, papieren lampenkappen en één of twee stukken ruw steengoed. Een zwarte of eikenhouten lijst houdt het gevoel van Japanse houtdruk eerlijk.
Zet hem niet naast drukke bloemmotieven, glanzend goudkleurig meubilair of een ander statementstuk — de boot heeft zijn water nodig om het werk te doen. Geprint op premium fine-artpapier.

How do I frame an art print?
Good news—you don’t have to!
All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:
- Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
- We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
- Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
- Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.
Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

How do I hang art prints?
It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.
Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:
- Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.
- Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.
- For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.
Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.
Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall
Will the deep blue feel cold in a warm, neutral room?
The blue is dusty rather than icy, and the warm sand border around the boat softens it. In a room with pale oak, linen and stoneware, it reads as a calm anchor rather than a cold patch. If your room is very warm and red-leaning, it will still work, but choose a slightly smaller size.
What does the Japanese calligraphy in the top corner say?
It is the title of the print, traditionally read as a takarabune or treasure boat — a small vessel from Japanese folklore. The brushwork is left in as part of the composition, so it reads as a design element even if you don't read Japanese.
Is this strong enough to hang on its own, or does it need a pair?
It holds a wall on its own thanks to the single deep blue shape and tall vertical pull. It also pairs well with one other quiet Japanese woodblock or small calligraphy study, but a busy gallery cluster will fight it. Solo, with breathing room, is the safest choice.
