Over dit kunstwerk
Zodra het poederroze binnenkomt, staat de kamer steviger. De baai achter de twee figuren trekt een strook violetblauw de ruimte in, en ineens krijgen de beige- en havertinten eromheen een duidelijke rol. Hang het op ooghoogte boven een laag dressoir of een leesstoel; zo krijgt de kamer een rustig middelpunt, een plek waar je blik steeds naar terugkeert.
Combineer met linnen, doorleefd eiken, één messing lamp en een vaas van steengoed (klei). Zet het niet vol met ander figuratief werk of een drukke gallery wall; dit stuk komt het best tot zijn recht met één sterke buur, geen groep. Het mooist in een eiken of warmbruine lijst die aansluit bij de okerkleurige hoofddoek.

How do I frame an art print?
Good news—you don’t have to!
All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:
- Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
- We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
- Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
- Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.
Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

How do I hang art prints?
It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.
Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:
- Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.
- Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.
- For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.
Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.
Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall
Will the violet-blue bay clash with a warm cream and oak room?
No — that's exactly the room this print was made for. The violet sits as a single cool note inside a fundamentally warm composition of rose, ochre and oat, so a cream-and-oak room reads it as a deliberate accent rather than a clash. If anything, the warm timbers around it will deepen the blue and make it feel more intentional.
Are the figures' faces meant to look unresolved, or is this a print-quality issue?
Deliberate. This is late Bonnard, painted from memory and feeling rather than direct observation, so the faces dissolve into colour and atmosphere on purpose. If you're after sharp, photographically-defined features, this isn't the piece — but the softness is what gives it its emotional weight.
Does the bay in the background make this a 'coastal' piece?
Not really. The sea is backdrop, not subject — the painting is about the two figures and their closeness, with Arcachon as colour and light rather than seaside scenery. It works in inland rooms as comfortably as coastal ones, and it won't read as nautical or beachy in styling.
