How do I frame an art print?
Good news—you don’t have to!
All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:
- Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
- We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
- Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
- Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.
Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.
What makes Fab frames so good?

How do I hang art prints?
It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.
Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:
- Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.
- Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.
- For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.
Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.
Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall
How much detail is visible in the pencil work?
Plenty. The graphite shading on the cat's stripes, the shadow under the tail and the wood grain on the floor all come through clearly on the print. It rewards being seen from a metre or two away rather than across a big room, so a medium size at eye level tends to suit it best.
Will this look too plain in a colourful room?
It can. Because the palette is just warm greys and off-white, a room full of strong colour and busy pattern tends to swallow it. It shines in calmer settings — painted panelled walls, linen, oak, soft lamplight — where there's room around it for the drawing to breathe.
Does the 1812 date show on the print?
Yes. The artist's small inscription dated 1812 sits in the lower right corner, just as it does on the original drawing. It's subtle rather than loud, but it's part of the charm and helps the piece read as a genuine antique study rather than a modern illustration.
