How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Is the handwritten patent text actually readable up close?

Yes. The print preserves the original drawing's line weight and the handwritten labels, so at normal bathroom viewing distance — half a metre or so — you can read the figure annotations and the patent number clearly. From across the room it reads as a tidy black and white technical illustration.

Does it settle the over-or-under toilet paper debate?

The original 1891 drawing shows the paper hanging over the front of the roll, so technically yes. It's a quiet punchline rather than a loud one — guests usually notice it on the second visit. That's part of why it works as a bathroom piece.

Will it look out of place in a modern bathroom?

No. Black line work on white sits cleanly against white tile, chrome fittings, dark painted walls or pale timber. It reads as a small confident accent rather than a vintage flourish, so it slots into modern, traditional and farmhouse bathrooms without changing the room's tone.
