Om detta konstverk

Frame it in brown and the river turns into something that has always hung in the house. Put it in black and the whole thing sharpens, the pale sky goes cooler and the reeds read almost graphic against a white wall. Both work. They just make different rooms. Brown suits a stair wall with a mahogany banister and a wool runner underfoot, where the khaki of the far bank picks up the wood and the hallway feels older than it is. Black suits a plainer flat, painted off-white, with a leather chair and not much else. Avoid gold. Those clouds are too quiet for it. Whatever you choose, give it a narrow wall to itself, hung so the water sits just below eye level. On fine-art paper the frame arrives fitted, glazed and ready to hang.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will the muted colours disappear on a dark green wall?

No, they do the opposite. The sky takes up more than half the picture and sits in a pale khaki grey, so against deep green it reads as a bright panel and the room gains a window it did not have. The brown banks and reeds tie into the wall colour rather than fighting it. Keep the lighting warm and low and the effect holds after dark.

How large does it need to be on a stair wall?

Go large. On a staircase the eye is always moving, so a small tall picture becomes a stripe you never quite look at. At around 50cm wide and 100cm tall the reeds and the distant hills stay legible from the hall below and from the landing above. Hang it so the horizon sits level with the eye of someone standing on the third or fourth step.

Does it suit a modern flat or only period houses?

Both, if you change the frame. In a period house with dark wood and a runner, a brown frame lets it sit as though it came with the building. In a plainer flat with off-white walls, black sharpens the edges and the pale sky reads cooler and more graphic. What it will not do is sit happily among bright Scandinavian colour, where the aged tones look out of place.
