Buy a fish study for the story. Keep it for the coral orange. Six sardines sit one above the other on a warm cream ground, and the whole thing reads like a page lifted from an old nature book. Put it up and a plain kitchen or dining wall gets a bit of wit and a bit of warmth without any shouting. It hangs well between windows, above a sideboard, or in a run down a narrow hallway. Pair it with pale wood, painted cabinet fronts, cream pottery and linen. Don't crowd it with busy pattern or heavy dark art either side — the cream background needs a little breathing room to do its job. On fine-art paper the soft scale detail and paper-like ground stay crisp.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will it look too pale on a white wall?

It can. The background is a warm cream rather than a bright white, so on a cool brilliant-white wall the edges start to disappear. It looks best on a warm off-white, beige or soft green wall, or on a white wall with a slim dark frame to give it a clean outline.

Can I hang it near a hob or sink?

Keep it off the splashback and away from direct steam and spitting oil. A metre or so along the wall from the hob is fine, as is above a sideboard, dresser or breakfast counter. Somewhere with daylight rather than constant heat will keep the colours looking their best.

Does it work with other fish or sea prints?

Yes, as long as the backgrounds are similar. Pair it with other cream-ground studies of shells, seaweed or single fish and the set reads like pages from the same book. Mixing it with dark or photographic sea images breaks that effect and the sardines lose out.
