About This Art

Back in the 1920s, this kind of snake-and-peony scene belonged to another kind of home — embroidered silk panels, lacquered screens, rooms built around colour and ceremony. The print carries that weight without feeling like a costume.

Put it up and the wall stops being background. The dark base pulls the room in, the gold scales catch lamplight, and the red peonies do the heavy lifting on warmth.

It wants a moody room: a study, a deep-painted living room, a hallway with low light. It also holds its own above a bed if the rest of the room is calm.

Pairs well with velvet, aged leather, dark wood, brass, and anything with a slight sheen. Stoneware and warm-toned ceramics keep it grounded.

Don't pile other busy florals next to it — the peonies are already doing the talking. Printed on premium fine-art paper.

Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

Made responsiblyFSC-certified wood and paper. Water-based, vegan inks. Crafted to order, so there's zero waste and zero guilt.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will the dark background look too heavy in a small room?

It can — the black ground absorbs light, so in a small, dimly lit room it will dominate. If your space is compact, put it where you actually want a focal point, like one accent wall or above a sofa, rather than in a tight corner. Warm lamplight near it helps; cold overhead lighting flattens it.

Is the snake graphic or unsettling up close?

The snake is stylised, with embroidered-looking scales and a calm, side-on pose — closer to a vintage textile motif than anything realistic. Up close you see scale detail and gold tones rather than anything anatomical. That said, if snakes genuinely bother you, this isn't the piece, no matter how decorative.

Does it work above a bed, or is it too intense?

It can work above a bed if the rest of the room is calm — plain bedding, restrained walls, soft lighting. The piece is bold, so let it be the loudest thing in the room. Skip it above the bed if your headboard is already patterned or the walls are busy.
