About This Art

Once the deep red enters, the whole room stops apologising. A friendly Japanese food illustration — maki rolls, udon, miso, nigiri and chopsticks — sits on a warm cream background with the kanji for 'cheers' overhead.

What it does for a room: brings warmth and a bit of humour to a quiet wall without shouting. The colours are soft enough to live with daily, the subject light enough to make people smile on the way to the kettle.

Hang it in a kitchen, a small dining nook, a breakfast bar, or a hallway that runs past the kitchen. Eye-level works best, on its own or paired with one other food piece.

Pair with pale oak, stoneware, linen and ceramics in soft earth tones. A black or oak frame keeps the hand-drawn feel intact.

Don't crowd it with busy patterned tiles or competing food prints in louder colours — let it lead the wall. Printed on premium fine-art paper.

Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

Made responsiblyFSC-certified wood and paper. Water-based, vegan inks. Crafted to order, so there's zero waste and zero guilt.

How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

What does the writing at the top mean?

The two characters read 'kanpai', which is the Japanese for 'cheers' — the toast you make before a drink. The exclamation mark keeps it casual and friendly, which is why the print reads as cheerful rather than instructional.

Will the warm cream background look washed out on a white kitchen wall?

On a bright white wall the cream ground reads as a soft, warm panel rather than blending in — the deep red miso bowl and dark linework give it enough contrast. It looks best on cream, off-white or pale oak-clad walls.

Is the illustration style consistent, or are the bowls in different styles?

All the elements are drawn in the same crayon-soft hand, with the same loose outline and slightly uneven shading. The bowls vary in colour — dark grey for udon, red for miso, cream for the second bowl — but the drawing style is the same throughout.
