What are the four main types of still life art?

Still life is traditionally grouped into four broad categories: flowers, food and drink (often called breakfast or banquet pieces), objects from nature or the household such as shells and vessels, and symbolic arrangements known as vanitas that hint at the passing of time. Floral still life is the most decorative of the group, which is why bouquets and botanical arrangements remain the most popular subject for wall art.

Should I choose a vintage-look or a modern floral still life?

Vintage-style florals tend to have deeper, muted tones and antique vessels, which reads traditional and cosy and works well in period homes or layered, collected interiors. Modern and minimal floral studies use flatter colour and more open space, suiting pared-back rooms and contemporary furniture. If you're unsure, pick the one that echoes tones already in your textiles, and let the frame finish tie it to the rest of the room.
