What size art print works best in a living room?
For the wall above a standard sofa (roughly 180-200cm wide), we'd go with a single large print at 70x100cm or a pair of 50x70cm prints with about 10cm between them. A single large living room art print makes a stronger statement than a cluster of small frames, and it's far easier to get right. If your wall is narrower, like the space next to a window or above a console table, a 50x70cm print hits the sweet spot. Our framed art prints arrive ready to hang, so you won't be fiddling with fittings on a Saturday afternoon.
What type of art prints look best in a living room?
It depends on what your room is doing already. If your sofa and cushions are neutral, abstract art for the living room is the fastest way to inject energy without redecorating. If the room is already colourful, a tonal landscape or architectural print in muted tones will ground things. We'd steer you away from overly literal photographic prints for a main living room wall. Something with a bit of artistic interpretation, whether that's abstract, illustrative, or painterly, tends to hold your attention for years rather than months.
How should I arrange wall art in my living room?
The simplest rule: centre your art at eye level (roughly 145cm from the floor to the middle of the print) and make sure the grouping sits within the width of the furniture below it. For a gallery wall, start with your largest print in the centre-left position and build outward, keeping 5-8cm gaps between frames. Odd numbers (three or five prints) almost always look better than even. If you're hanging above a sofa, keep the bottom edge of the lowest frame about 15-20cm above the backrest so everything reads as one arrangement rather than art floating on its own.
Do your framed living room prints arrive ready to hang?
Yes, every framed print ships as one piece with the print already properly fitted into the frame, fixtures attached, and everything packaged together. This matters more than people realise. A lot of online art arrives with the frame in one box and the print rolled in another, leaving you to assemble it yourself and hope nothing warps or bubbles. Ours are made to order using solid FSC-certified wood frames with UV-protective acrylic glazing, so you're hanging it within minutes of opening the box. Thousands of shoppers tell us the quality looks even better in person than on screen.
What are the current trends in living room wall art?
Right now we're seeing a big move toward oversized single prints rather than busy gallery walls. Think one bold 70x100cm piece that anchors the room. In terms of style, modern living room prints with organic shapes, soft abstract compositions, and warm earthy palettes are everywhere, partly driven by the shift away from all-grey interiors. Vintage-inspired botanical and landscape prints are also having a moment, especially in natural wood frames. The good news is that contemporary living room art with a muted, considered palette tends to outlast trends, so you won't be swapping it out in 18 months.
