Square Art Prints

4.8

A square sits differently to a portrait or landscape print. It settles calmly over a chest of drawers, fills the awkward space beside a door, and repeats beautifully in a grid. Browse everything here, or narrow it down fast: square botanical art for something green and quiet, square abstract prints for colour and movement. Two squares hung side by side make a perfect pair; add more and you have a wall.

I am honestly blown away by the frame quality (click thru all options and look at the gold one not featured!)and the rich colors of the artwork/print. And delivery no charge from UK in 3-4 days (my neighbor brought it in as I was traveling. Packaging was terrific. And i buy from many sources and items frequently arrive damaged. NOT SO with this item and am going to order more ASAP for my evolving gallery wall.

Buying square art: common questions

Framing choices, hanging heights, grouping squares and what to do if a print isn't right for the room

What makes square art prints different from portrait or landscape prints?

A square print uses a 1:1 ratio, equal in height and width, so it carries no directional pull. Landscape formats stretch the eye sideways and make a wall feel wider; portrait formats lift the eye upward and add a sense of height. A square instead draws attention towards the centre, which usually reads as balanced, calm and contemporary. That makes squares easy to place on walls roughly as tall as they are wide, above bedside tables or round tables, and in grids or gallery walls that need a steady anchor. Available framed or unframed.

Why did Gustav Klimt paint his garden and landscape scenes on square canvases?

Klimt turned to the square around 1900 and used it for nearly all his garden, orchard and lakeside scenes for the rest of his career, a deliberate break from the traditional horizontal landscape shape. The 1:1 shape suited the pure geometry favoured by the Vienna Secession, and it echoed his interest in photography: he framed views through a small cardboard, later ivory, plate with a square opening. The result flattens depth and pushes pattern forward, giving a calm, self-contained view. That same balance is why square art prints hang so easily, centred over a console, bed or in a grid.
