What is a tablescape still life?

A tablescape still life is a painting or print built around a table setting — fruit, glassware, vases, linens or a laid meal arranged as a composition. The tradition stretches back four centuries, from early Dutch and Flemish table pieces through modern and Cubist takes such as Braque's table subjects. Today the same idea appears in contemporary food and table paintings, where everyday objects become the whole scene.
