What are the "new neutrals" in 2026?

The new neutrals move beyond flat white, grey and beige toward warmer, more complex tones with visible depth. Designers point to soft and chocolate browns, muted rust, putty, greige, sage green and even dusty pink as shades that now behave like neutrals. Wall art in these hues works the same way: it grounds a room quietly instead of shouting, and layers easily with linen, wood and stone textures.

What colour is replacing grey and beige?

Cool, steely greys are largely being replaced by warmer neutrals as people look for calmer, more grounding rooms, and flat beige is giving way to richer tones like soft brown, chocolate, putty and muted rust. Sage green and dusty pink are also being used as neutrals. If your walls are still cool grey, warm-toned art is an easy, low-commitment way to bridge the shift before you repaint.

How do I use the 60-30-10 or three-colour rule with neutral art?

The three-colour approach keeps a scheme cohesive: one dominant tone across roughly 60% of the room, a secondary tone at about 30%, and an accent at 10%. Let your walls and large furniture carry the dominant neutral, then choose art whose main tone echoes your secondary colour, with a small accent shade repeated in a cushion or lamp. Two or three pieces sharing that palette read as one intentional grouping.

Will neutral wall art still look current in a few years?

Neutral art tends to age well because it relies on tone and texture rather than a fleeting motif, and warm neutrals are the direction designers have been moving toward rather than away from. To keep a piece feeling current, favour complex, layered shades over flat cool grey, and lean on frame choice and surrounding textures to update the look. Prints and canvases come framed or unframed, shipping is free, and returns are open for 99 days.
