How do I frame an art print?

Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

  • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
  • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
  • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
  • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

  1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

  2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

  3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will the near-black ground feel too heavy in a small room?

Not usually. Because the line itself is light and the composition is centred, the piece reads as a focal point rather than a dark mass. In small rooms, keep the surrounding wall plain off-white and leave at least 20–30 cm of clear space around the frame so it has room to breathe.

Does this work as a pair with another Matisse line portrait?

Yes. It pairs well with a second Matisse-style line portrait of similar scale, hung with around 8–12 cm between frames. Keep both on the same eye-level line and match frame colour. Avoid pairing with anything high-colour or busily patterned, which fights the calm linework.

What wall colour suits it best?

Chalky off-white, warm cream and soft putty walls work best — they pick up the cream line without competing. It also looks strong on a deep clay or muted sage feature wall if you want more drama. Avoid bright white gloss and busy patterned wallpapers, which flatten the contrast.
