    How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

    Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

    Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

    Will the colour be too loud for a calm living room?

    It is a confident piece — coral red, blue and deep green over warm cream. It works best as the single focal point on a quiet cream, off-white or soft clay wall, with neutral upholstery and warm wood around it. If your room already runs to strong patterns or jewel-tone velvets, it may compete rather than lift.

    What size should I go for above a standard three-seater sofa?

    Go large. The loose brushwork and high colour need room to read from across the room. A large portrait-orientation piece centred above the sofa, hung roughly 15-20cm above the back cushions, gives the painting space to breathe and stops it looking like an afterthought.

    Does it work with warm wood furniture, or only with modern interiors?

    It works beautifully with warm wood — walnut, oak, teak — because the mustard, coral and warm cream in the painting echo those tones. It also sits happily with linen, bouclé, terracotta and stoneware, so a mid-century, bohemian or relaxed Mediterranean room will all carry it well.
