    About This Art

Once the black ink enters, the whole room stops apologising. The white background does the quiet work and the scribbled hound does the talking. Put it up and a plain hallway or study wall suddenly has a bit of character — a wink rather than a statement. It suits eye-level hanging on a narrow wall, above a desk, or over a low sideboard where you pass it every day. Pair it with pale wood, black metal, linen and a couple of stoneware pieces. Keep colour out of its way: busy patterned wallpaper, gold ornament or another strong dark picture on the same wall will fight the linework and blunt the joke. As a canvas it reads softer and looser, so a bigger size works best.

We're serious about canvas art, ask away

From sizing to framing and print quality, Fab's art experts break it all down—so you can find the right art for your space.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Will the fine scribble lines still read from across a room?

The outline holds up well at a distance, but the loose loops around the ears and tail are the fun part and they need a bit of proximity. In a hallway or above a desk you get both. On a large living room wall, go up a size so the sitting posture and the long ears stay obvious from the sofa.

Does the big white background look empty on a white wall?

On a bright white wall the paper can blend at the edges, so give it a frame with a clear dark edge to draw the boundary. On a grey, greige, deep green or navy wall it needs no help at all — the white ground acts like a built-in mount and the dog pops forward.

Is it recognisably a basset hound or just a generic dog?

The breed is clear: low body, heavy front paws, the long drooping ears and the sad-eyed profile are all there. Basset owners spot it instantly. If you want a likeness of your own dog it will not do that job, but as a nod to the breed it reads correctly.
