    About This Art

Unlike most dog art, this doesn't wait for approval. It's one dog, drawn at speed in black scribbles, sitting on plain white. Put it up and the wall stops being background — the loose lines pull your eye straight in, then let you spot the ears, the paws, the tilt of the head. It earns its keep in a hallway, a study or above a sideboard in a family living room, where people walk past close enough to see the linework. Keep the company simple: white or pale grey walls, black metal, pale wood, plain ceramics. Don't crowd it with heavy pattern or other busy black-and-white graphics, and skip a mount-heavy cluster of small pieces beside it. As a canvas the white background reads soft and matt, with no reflections.

We're serious about canvas art, ask away

From sizing to framing and print quality, Fab's art experts break it all down—so you can find the right art for your space.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Will the scribbled lines still read as a basset hound from across the room?

From a few steps back, yes — the ears, muzzle and stance come through clearly. Very close up you mostly see loose black lines, which is part of the appeal. If your wall is only viewed from far across a big open-plan room, size up so the shape stays obvious rather than turning into texture.

Does this suit a room that already has a lot of colour?

It can work well. Because it's only black lines on white, it acts as a break rather than another competing colour. The one thing to watch is pattern: if the wall behind it is papered or the surrounding shelves are busy, the fine scribbles get lost. Give it a plain painted stretch of wall.

Is it too stark for a bedroom?

It's more graphic than restful, so it suits a study, hallway or living room better. If you do want it in a bedroom, keep it off the wall behind the bed and hang it on a side wall instead, paired with soft bedding and warm lamplight so the black lines feel like a detail rather than the main event.
