    About This Art

Dog people who like their walls quiet will take to this black Labrador, painted as a solid ink silhouette with its head lifted and turned to the right. A few fine slivers of bare paper pick out the ear, eye, nose and jaw, and the brushed edge at the chest keeps it from looking like a stencil. The deep black against warm off-white reads clearly from across a room, so it suits a hallway, a console by the front door or the wall beside a desk. It sits well with white-painted walls, oak floorboards, wool throws and blackened steel. A medium size suits most walls. Go larger above a sofa, where the single head has to hold a bigger space. On fine-art paper the matte surface keeps the black soft and velvety.

How do I frame an art print?

    Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

    • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
    • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
    • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
    • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

    1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

    2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

    3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

My Labrador is yellow or chocolate. Will this still feel like my dog?

The figure is a pure black silhouette, so it reads as Labrador through its shape rather than its colour: the broad head, the folded ear and the soft jowl. Many owners of yellow and chocolate dogs choose it for that reason, because it shows the breed rather than one coat. If you want your own dog's exact colouring, a painted portrait will suit you better.

    What size works best?

A medium size suits most hallways, studies and spots beside a desk, where people see it from one or two metres away. Above a sofa or a wide console, go a size up so the single head isn't lost on the wall. In a narrow hallway keep it medium, so the solid black doesn't feel heavy at close range.

Which way does the dog face, and does that matter?

The Labrador faces right, with its head tilted slightly upward. Placement matters because the gaze pulls the eye along with it. Hang it on the left side of a wall or hallway so the dog looks into the room or down the corridor. In a pair, set a left-facing piece on the other side so the two face each other.
