    About This Art

In the 1890s, this would have felt radical. It still does. Loose, thick brushwork turns a famous river view into blocks of blue, pink and warm red rather than careful detail. On the wall it acts like a window: the room picks up the blue of the water and the warm rooftops give plain walls somewhere to go. Hang it above a sofa, a sideboard or along a hallway where people pass and slow down. Pair it with linen, warm timber, rattan and simple ceramics in blue or cream. Don't crowd it with other busy scenes or heavy pattern nearby; it needs a little quiet wall around it to read properly. As a canvas the ridged brush marks feel closer to a real painting.

We're serious about canvas art, ask away

From sizing to framing and print quality, Fab's art experts break it all down—so you can find the right art for your space.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Which building is in the distance?

It's the Hungarian Parliament Building on the Pest side of the Danube, with its domed centre and spires. The Chain Bridge sits further upriver on the left, and the hillside above it is the Buda side. The treatment is loose and painterly, so the shapes read clearly from a few steps back rather than up close.

Will it look too busy in a small room?

It is a detailed scene, so give it room to work. In a small living room or hallway, hang it as the only piece on that wall and keep nearby shelves and surfaces fairly clear. Viewed from about two metres or more, the brushwork settles into one calm river view rather than lots of separate detail.

Does it need a lot of blue in the room already?

No. It actually works best in a mostly neutral room, where the blue water and pink blossom become the colour source. If you do want to echo it, one or two small touches are enough: a blue and white jug, a striped cushion, or a pale blue wall behind it.
