    About This Art

From the doorway of a study, the eye wants somewhere to land. Give it the wall straight ahead and the blue does the pulling. It reads as sea before it reads as anything else, so the room feels wider than its square metres the moment you walk in. Then the olive greens take over and the whole thing settles into something a golfer will cross the room to look at. Off-white walls suit it. So does a plain oak desk under it, with nothing on the desk in a competing blue. Hang it at eye level for someone standing, not sitting, because the first look is the standing one. Keep the rest of the wall clear. One good map beats three small pictures, and this one earns the space. Stretched on canvas it hangs clean against a plain wall with no glass between you and the coastline.

We're serious about canvas art, ask away

From sizing to framing and print quality, Fab's art experts break it all down—so you can find the right art for your space.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Will the deep blue take over a small home office?

Not if the walls stay pale. The blue covers around a quarter of the picture, and against off-white or putty walls it reads as a window onto water rather than a block of colour. Keep other blues in the room to one textile, a chair or a blind, and the map holds the wall without shrinking it. Dark navy walls would close the room down around it.

What size do I need to read the individual holes?

Medium is the sweet spot for a desk wall. At that size the fairways, greens and bunkers read clearly from a chair two metres away, and the coastline still carries to the door. Go large over a sofa where you look from further back. Small works only on a shelf or a narrow wall where you stand close to it.

Does it work in a living room, or is it strictly a study piece?

It works well in a living room with pale floors and a sage or off-white sofa, where the green and blue sit comfortably with natural fabrics. Hang it low over the sofa so the sea sits at eye level from the seat. In a room full of warm terracotta or rust it fights the scheme, so keep those tones to the rug if you have them.
