    About This Art

There's a reason Hiroshige kept returning to cats; rooms still respond. The soft cream ground, blue kimono leaves and one small red bow do the heavy lifting on a quiet wall. Hang it where the room is already calm — above a low console, a writing desk or at the end of a hallway — and it adds a small moment of personality without raising the volume. It sits well with pale woods, linen, washi and unglazed ceramics. Don't crowd it with loud graphic prints or heavy gilded frames; this one wants breathing room and natural light around it. Printed on premium fine-art paper, available unframed or framed in real wood with acrylic glazing.

    Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

    Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

    Made responsibly
FSC-certified wood and paper. Water-based, vegan inks. Crafted to order, so there's zero waste and zero guilt.

How do I frame an art print?

    Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

    • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
    • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
    • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
    • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

    1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

    2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

    3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Is this artwork as soft and pale as it looks on screen?

Yes — the original is a delicate watercolour on a cream ground, and we've kept that softness in the reproduction. Most of the surface is warm off-white, with the cat, kimono and bowl as small focal points. It's intentionally quiet, so plan for a calm wall and a frame that doesn't shout.

Will it read on a larger wall, or should I keep it small?

It's best at a medium size where you can step closer to catch the red bow and blue leaves. On a very large wall it can feel a little lost on its own — either size up, hang it as part of a small gallery group of quiet Japanese pieces, or keep it on a narrower wall like a hallway or above a writing desk.

Which rooms suit this piece best?

Calm, low-traffic spots: a bedroom, study, reading corner or hallway. It loves natural light and pale woods, and it really comes alive in a Japandi, Scandinavian or organic-modern room where there's already breathing space around the furniture.
