    About This Art

Here's the trick: let the dog portrait cut through all that linen. Rooms full of soft textiles and pale paint can go flat, and this one gives the wall something sharp to hold on to. The black pen work reads as texture from across the room and as a proper drawing up close, so it rewards a spot you walk past daily. Hang it in a hallway, above a desk, or beside a bedroom door where the tall shape suits a narrow stretch of wall. Keep the company simple: pale wood, off-white or grey walls, black metal details, a plain ceramic or two. Don't crowd it with busy patterned wallpaper or other heavy black-and-white graphics — it needs breathing room to work. As a canvas the matte surface softens the glare on the white ground.

We're serious about canvas art, ask away

From sizing to framing and print quality, Fab's art experts break it all down—so you can find the right art for your space.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Does it still read as a Dalmatian from across the room?

Yes. The loops build up into a clear standing dog once you step back a metre or two, and the head and muzzle are drawn with cleaner, more open line so the face stays legible. Up close it breaks apart into pen scribble, which is part of the appeal. Medium sizes and above read best.

Will it look odd next to my other pet photos?

It sits happily beside framed black-and-white photographs, since both share the same graphic feel. Colour pet photos are harder — the drawing has no colour to meet them halfway. If you mix them, keep the frames consistent and give the drawing a little more space than the photos around it.

Is the background pure white or slightly off-white?

It is a soft off-white rather than a bright printer white, with faint grey in the line work. That means it sits comfortably on off-white, cream and grey walls without the edge of the paper or canvas jumping out. On a bright white wall the difference is subtle but noticeable up close.
