    About This Art

Most rooms have nowhere for the eye to travel. Four walls, one window, everything within three metres. A tall stretch of marsh fixes that. The creek starts at your feet and works back to a line of trees under a heavy sky, so a flat hallway wall suddenly has forty miles in it. Hang it at the top of the stairs where you meet it head-on as you climb. Rust in the grasses sits well against chalky white paint and better still against a dusty sage. Keep the woodwork simple, a painted banister or a plain pine bench, nothing polished. Give it room to be tall. Below 90cm high the creek stops leading anywhere and the egret becomes a white mark in the corner. On canvas the brushwork in the grasses reads as paint, and it hangs without glass to catch the landing light.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Will the dark sky make a narrow hallway feel darker?

Less than you would expect. The lower two thirds carry warm rust, gold and cream, and those sit at eye level where you actually look. The dark band of cloud lands near the top, above the sightline, where it reads as depth rather than gloom. Pair it with an off-white or sage wall and a hallway with one window still feels lit.

How large does it need to be on a stair wall?

Aim for at least 100cm tall. The creek relies on distance, and on a landing you view it from the bottom of the flight, often three or four metres away. At that range a 60cm version loses the bird and turns into a brown stripe. Go as tall as the wall allows and leave a clear margin of plain paint on either side.

Does the rust in the grasses clash with a green wall?

Rust and green are opposite each other on the colour wheel, so they sharpen one another rather than clash. A dusty sage or olive wall makes the grasses look warmer and the creek look cooler, which is what you want. Bright grass green or mint is the one to avoid, as it fights the muted tones and makes the scene look faded.
